Each belief tested by the criterion: scripture, history and the Quran.

The Quran calls itself al-Furqan, the Criterion that separates truth from falsehood (Quran 25:1). This site applies that idea to the beliefs that set each denomination apart.

The method is the same on every page. First the belief is stated in the group's own words, from its creeds and official teaching. Next comes its strongest case, with the verses its own teachers cite, stated fairly. Then the belief is examined against the group's own scripture, against the historical record and against reputable scholarship. Finally, the page sets out what the Quran says, followed by questions for reflection and a full list of sources.

Arguments that apply to many groups, such as the Trinity, have one shared topic page. Each denomination page links to the shared topics that apply to it and then covers what is unique to that group. For a neutral description of each group, see the Sects site.
